Learn how to create professional looking traditional faux marble paint techniques in this in-person, intensive two-day, faux marbling accredited course.

 

Includes professional tutoring, leading to independent creations of traditional faux marbling and a signed, accredited, CPD course certificate.

 

This course covers everything you need to know to recreate these ancient paint techniques, taking the skills that you have to the next level, in a nurturing and safe studio environment.

Course Overview

Course Programme

  • This accredited course equips participants with practical skills and knowledge on how to create professional looking faux marble paint effects. The course enables participants to work closely with an experienced and qualified paint effects artist with over 35 years of experience in the industry, working in a safe inclusive environment.

  • Upon completion, participants will receive a signed, CPD accredited certificate for the course.

  • Duration: 9.30 – 4.00 over two consecutive days

Course Breakdown

Day One

Morning

  • A short explanation of the history and current use of faux marbling in the workplace

  • Demonstration of faux marbling by course tutor

  • Explanation of correct methods of surface preparation, including primers and basecoats

  • Preparing and priming sample boards

  • Explanation on the correct mixing and use of glazes by course tutor

  • Preparing and mixing glazes

  • Introduction of tools and equipment used to create faux marbling effects

  • Practice creating marbling techniques, including background effects and veining techniques

Afternoon

Break For Lunch

  • Prepare and basecoat practice boards provided

  • Using previously mixed glazes, practice and master creating faux marbling effects for duration of afternoon

  • You will be able to ask questions and seek advice from the tutor

Day Two

Morning

  • A short recap of skills and techniques learnt so far from course tutor

  • Prepare, prime and basecoat new work boards

  • Participant will be assigned a faux marbling effect to produce a competent and realistic sample for assessment by course tutor

  • Assessment will include the level of knowledge of the type of marble to be reproduced, the skills involved in preparation and mixing of glazes and the use and knowledge of tools and equipment

Afternoon

Break For Lunch

  • Participants will be asked to choose a style of marble and asked to recreate for the final assessment in order to demonstrate full knowledge of the creation of traditional faux marble paint effects

  • Participants will be given the opportunity to ask the course tutor any questions pertaining to the course

  • Participants will be asked to choose a couple of boards to take away with them to keep and use for their own portfolio

  • Participants will be given handouts and encouraged to provide feedback through reflective practice and evaluation sheets

We ask that participants have a basic understanding of paints, decorating materials and equipment before enrolling onto this course.
