Our studio based workshops provide real-time, personalised support from an experienced professional. These small group workshops offer a great, relaxed environment in which to learn new skills and meet like-minded people.

About Our Studio Workshops

We offer a variety of hands-on workshops taught by Simon, a professional decorator, designer and paint effects artist, with 35+ years of experience. Each workshop includes access to tools, equipment, paints and materials* plus unlimited tea/coffee.

 

To ensure quality tuition time and adequate space in the studio the maximum number of participants attending the studio workshops is limited to 5 people. Check out our complete list of studio workshops currently on offer below, and make a booking today.

* sample boards are provided for all workshops, however for the painted furniture workshops you have the option of bringing your own small piece of furniture with you to paint.

These workshops are designed for anyone with an interest in learning how to create amazing marble paint effects, used extensively in restoration projects around the world.

Whether you are wanting to build upon the skills you have already developed, or you are just starting out, our workshops will fuel your imagination and be an invaluable source of inspiration.

You will be guided through the different stages used to create professional looking faux marble paint effects, and the use of sealants and varnishes to protect your work.

There will be plenty of time throughout the day, to ask questions and seek advice, from Simon, a qualified interior decorator and paint effects artist with over 35 years experience in all aspects of decorative paint finishes.

The Art & Craft

This tailor-made workshop is designed and structured for people with a good knowledge and some experience with using the tools and materials used in decorative paint techniques. Through the coarse of this workshop, you will gain a greater understanding and knowledge of the ancient art of faux granite, sandstone & malachite paint effects, skills that are highly prized and used by professional decorators, scenic artists and restorers around the world.

The Art & Craft of Furniture Painting 1 to 1 Workshop

These 1 to 1 workshops have been carefully designed for all abilities and tailor-made for those with an interest in learning how to create beautiful and professional looking pieces of hand-painted furniture.

You will learn how to carry out repairs and choose and apply the best primer and undercoat for your chosen piece. Then you will be shown how to create stunning finishes, including, professional satin and gloss, classical matt and chalk and amazing aging and distressing paint techniques, which are used by decorators, scenic artists and restorers around the world.

Whether you are wanting to build upon the skills you have already developed, or you are just starting out, our workshops will fuel your imagination and be an invaluable source of inspiration.

You will be guided through the use of different types of primers, undercoats and finishing paints and shown the best ways to protect your work.
